MOO has been extremely successful in rapidly growing revenue and customer numbers over several years. This growth has critically depended upon a high quality of products and services, and upon having extremely good grasp of what MOO customers value and need.

Looking ahead to the next phase of growth, with a far more diverse set of customers (in terms of verticals, channels, geographies, business lines etc), MOO recognises the need to become far better at using data and analysis to support decision making.Having made a considerable investment in building a data warehouse, and in defining business metrics, MOO now requires an outstanding Data Analyst to unlock this treasure chest of data and uncover hidden insights to push the business forward. Equally importantly, the Data Analyst must be able to support others across the business to generate their own insights, by making relevant data visible and accessible to them.

  • Writing development specs to support the recording of new, commercially useful data in the production database, and making it available for analysis and reporting
  • Defining and collecting data and metrics which will help in continual product development that will meet customer needs
  • Monitoring data quality and data integrity in the data warehouse, to ensure that reporting and analysis is accurate and reliable
  • Upgrading the data warehouse, and related BI databases, to meet organisational needs, and to keep up with best practice in business intelligence
  • Managing and monitoring the integration of the data warehouse with databases used by other functions within the business – for example, MOO’s chosen email service provider to support CRM
  • Ensuring the smooth and proper running of the data warehouse
Reporting and Analysis:

  • Taking “I wish I knew…” style briefs from colleagues in marketing, product, finance and operations teams; converting these briefs into analysis/reporting specs, and then writing MySQL queries which deliver this analysis
  • Processing data requests and developing reports on multiple concurrent projects, for multiple internal clients
  • Analysis of information using various statistical methods, trying to see patterns – drawing commercial insight from data
  • Conceptualisation and visualisation of data and sharing this knowledge through effective presentation of the data output with internal clients
  • Becoming an expert user of Tableau reporting and visualisation software, training and supporting users to become more self-sufficient in their usage of it
  • Embedding standard reports within Tableau, enabling automated updating and circulation of management reports within it
  • Identifying, developing and implementing other programmes and tools that can be used for data analysis and presentation – maybe web pages, Excel plug-ins, new SaaS tools etc

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Skills:

  • Expertise with tools of the trade – MySQL, Excel, Tableau etc
  • Highly numerate – including an innate grasp of current statistical concepts
  • Excel based modelling, including What-If scenario building
  • Good understanding of web analytics and e-commerce
  • Comfort with ETL processes
About You:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of post-undergraduate experience in consulting, analysis, or database marketing roles
  • Demonstrable experience conducting  analytics projects and communicating analyses to key stakeholders and executive teams
  • Demonstrable ability to work as part of a team, as well as autonomously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to design and execute analysis independently, with a high degree of rigour and reliability
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts, financial modelling techniques, and marketing analytics
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Prior experience working with large datasets and statistical packages a plus
