We are currently seeking to appoint a Boat Station Manager to manage the day to day running of our London Area Royal Victoria Dock Boat Station (RVDS). This is a particularly exciting time for this role and for the facilities at RVDS, as MSSC is currently involved in the development, with key partners, of a new watersports centre which will ensure that MSSC retains a long term footprint at the site.  As well as leading and delivering water-based activity training to young people and adults, the successful candidate will be responsible for representing MSSC in meetings with key partners as part of this project .

The role will involve:

  • Day to day running and maintenance of the Sea Cadet facilities and operations at the Royal Victoria Dock Boat Station;
  • Arranging, supervising and delivering water-sports training to adults and young people;
  • Managing the health and safety and safeguarding of all trainees and visitors;
  • Co-ordinating the administrative, financial and accounting procedures for MSSC activities at the Royal Victoria Dock Boat Station;
  • Taking an active part in marketing MSSC facilities and activities and generating new streams of income;
  • Liaising with: Sea Cadet Units; MSSC personnel; RYA officials; and external parties and partners.
The right candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:
  • Excellent leadership and people management experience;
  • Experience of facilities management, preferably from a leisure/training environment;
  • Experience of water-sports instruction (with relevant RYA instructor qualifications);
  • High level of health and safety awareness;
  • Experience of working with and developing young people.
