stepped back into my corporate role I realised how much my confidence had grown
in just three weeks, the experience developed my ability to think on my feet
and make decisions and I realised that I can encourage others to achieve their
potential and they listened to me!’

‘I'd initially been a bit unsure if I'd cut it
as a programme leader on a programme of 60 young people, after all I work in
business with adults!
Being interested in working with young people is an
absolute prerequisite, but in terms of necessary experience I found that
my 'business experience' of setting direction, supporting and leading team and
a good chunk of organisational skills set me up for the role.
What you really need is team spirit, the ability to
not take yourself too seriously and to be prepared for a challenge learning 60
names! It was wonderful to do something so different. it was
a challenge, in a good way, and I found I was inspired by the Challengers and
the team of mentors I worked with. If you are tempted, go for it’.
