Monrovia. Our team of Liberian technicians is small but hard-working,
and in alignment with our plans to scale up, we are now seeking an
international IT Engineer to head our Technology Department.

Job Title: Head of IT Services
Position Description: The Head of IT Services manages the Technology Team, and delivers IT services to NATC's clientele.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Manage maintenance and on-site contracts; ensure scheduled and ad hoc requests for tech support are delivered in a timely and effective manner; determine the appropriate technology and solutions and ensure that they are applied
Ensure all company documentation (call logs, maintenance logs, intervention reports, etc.) are correctly used and recorded
Prepare technical proposals and estimates for projects (e.g. networking, server installation and support, website design and upgrade)
Oversee repairs of client hardware (on-site and at the NATC workshop)
Manage and provide guidance to Tech Department staff
Train and provide guidance to current NATC technicians
Continue the development of an in-house trainee program
Assist management where required in determining products (hardware and software) to be supplied to clients
Advise NATC management on new products and services to be offered to clients
Understand and gain deep knowledge of the IT services industry in Liberia
Primary Objectives:
Deliver the most effective and efficient service to clients by applying optimal technological solutions
Develop and streamline internal company procedures
Develop an excellent team of technicians
Help NATC in fulfilling its vision to be a world-class IT services and products company in West Africa
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in MAC OS; Windows XP, Vista and 7 operating systems. Knowledge of Ubuntu a plus.
Cabled and wireless networking; network administration
Installation, running and support for Windows 2003/2008/standard/enterprise servers; knowledge of Linux-based servers a plus
Data recovery
Installation and maintenance of V-SAT systems
Knowledge and experience in working with productivity software such as Microsoft Office Professional
Hardware repairs for items such as faulty heavy-duty printers and scanners, laptops, and desktops
Above all else, possess the ability to think logically and apply logical thinking skills to solve IT problems
Knowledge and experience in the following would be considered a plus: database creation and management, open-source technologies, programming languages, fibre optics
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors of Science in computer science or engineering, or equivalent
- Information Management, System Administration and IT Management degrees
- At least 5 years of work experience

The successful candidate is expected to be fluent in English and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. S/he should possess exceptional leadership skills, have the ability to work independently, and have strong attention to detail. S/he should have the tenacity to work in a challenging but exciting environment, and the interpersonal skills to interface with large multinationals, international NGOs, UN agencies, and the Government of Liberia. The candidate should be willing constantly to think outside the box and use all possible resources to solve problems.
