The really short version:

There is enormous potential for using business principles to do more social good. On Purpose is a network of emerging leaders from a diverse range of backgrounds who put their professional skills and experience to use in social enterprise.

We are looking for driven and talented professionals for our October 2014 Associate programme. During your year with On Purpose you will:

  • Be paid to undertake two high-profile six month placements
  • Participate in half a day a week of world class training
  • Experience in-depth professional and personal development
  • Work 1:1 with highly-skilled mentors and coaches with senior level experience

The somewhat longer version:

We believe in the potential of using commercial means to achieve positive social and environmental change. On Purpose equip people with the experience, skills and networks they need to lead this change.

Associates take part in a year-long programme where they are paid to work on demanding placements in commercially-minded organisations that are helping to address some of society’s biggest challenges.

We work with a diverse mix of placements hosts including social enterprises, social investors, consultancies, charities, commercial organisations and public sector spin-outs (previous placement hosts include Virgin Unite, Big Society Capital, JustGiving, UnLtd and the NHS). The placements offer an opportunity for hands-on learning and Associates work alongside senior leaders on projects that deliver real value to the organisation.

The placements are combined with weekly training from professionals at leading organisations from both the commercial and social sector (for example, McKinsey, the Design Council, the Cabinet Office, Ogilvy, the Big Issue) as well as fortnightly mentoring from seasoned leaders and quarterly executive coaching.

The programme is based in London. Associates work in their placements 4.5 days a week and spend Friday afternoons training together as a cohort. The programme is full-time and runs for a year from October 2014.

Following the programme, Fellows continue to benefit from our extensive network of other experienced professionals.
