We want to find a personable, commercially minded chatterbox who’ll join us as a guest sales executive.

This call desk is one of the most hectic areas of the business. Picture a popular restaurant with a queue of hungry patrons, all of them eyeing up their preferred table and deliberating over the menu. We want someone who can offer great service, keep a spare hand in the kitchen, a tab on the stock count, and ensure those takings keep rolling in.

For many who travel to London and New York, particularly families, accommodation is one of the biggest things they’ll be buying in a while. We get a lot of enquiries from a lot of interested people; we need to guide them through the booking process, helping them choose just the right place to stay.

The role is multifaceted and the people you speak with will be multifarious.

You’ll always have someone on the phone (that couple from Hong Kong you spoke to last week or the Australian family who haven’t replied to your last email) and you’ll need to figure out fast if they want the á là carte penthouse or if they’d be better suited with the house plats du jour. You’ll have return guests who want to discuss an extended stay somewhere extra special and you’ll know your stock so well you can nip to the cellar and deliver the right bottle in seconds. Meanwhile, there’ll be another dozen leads on the backburner, all waiting for your attention.

It’s a rewarding task, but you need to love (not just stand) the heat. And at the end of your shift you’ll see your success writ large for you and your colleagues to read.

  • Answering phone and email enquiries with individual responses
  • Providing potential guests with all the options and details they need to decide to book
  • Selecting the right onefinestay home for guests’ particular requirements
  • Taking the guest through the process from initial enquiry to confirmed booking
  • Chasing down leads and closing deals
  • Liaising with other teams in the business to ensure every booking runs smoothly
  • Processing payments

Desired Experience and Skills

  • There’s a lot of talking, to a lot of different people. So you need to like it
  • A confident, reassuring and charming phone manner
  • The ability to build rapport and trust with people quickly and effectively
  • You’re motivated by the thrill of the chase, and you keep going until a deal is done
  • You like numbers and thrive on targets
  • You have accurate maths skills. We cannot misquote. Ever
  • Excellent written communication skills. Emails need to be friendly, helpful, and precise (and softly persuasive)
  • A good knowledge of London which you can share confidently and inspirationally with people who may know very little about the place
  • Knowledge of New York a big bonus
  • Proven sales experience required
  • Previous travel experience a plus
  • A good degree is welcome, but not essential – so long as you have impeccable communication skills, charm, confidence, empathy and tenacity
