...and we require a Data Analyst to help gain insight from this information. The successful candidate will be based at our central London Head Office. A desire to be part of our flexible, rapidly expanding and challenging organisation is sought, and excellent remuneration benefits will be provided for the right candidate.

Job Purpose 

  • Gain a detailed technical understanding of Open Energi’s technology, control algorithms and the data that we collect.

  • Develop new analytics tools as required to mine our data and help understand our portfolio of grid balancing equipment.

  • Devise improvements to both technology and processes to maintain the high quality of service that we provide to National Grid.


Essential skills


  • Highly numerate with a good grasp of statistics and data analysis.

  • Familiar with SQL databases.

  • Experienced with at least one scripting language, e.g. Matlab or Python.

  • Proficient in using Excel to analyse and present data (basic VBA desirable but not essential).

  • Curious about new technology and quick to learn new skills.

  • Ability to explain analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Analytical mind with keen attention to detail.


Highly desirable skills


  • Knowledge of control systems.

  • Interest or desire to learn about the electricity and demand response markets.

  • Experience in mathematical modelling of physical processes.



  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Maths, Engineering or a related discipline.
