Raleigh International, youth and sustainable development charity, are recruiting volunteer Adventure Project Managers to help lead their overseas expeditions.
Lead. Inspire. Motivate. Adventure project managers are responsible for leading groups of young people aged 17 - 24 on exciting and challenging adventure projects in Borneo and Tanzania. The role of Adventure Project Manager involves facilitating a group of young people in a cross-cultural environment, and inspiring and encouraging them to complete a tough physical challenge they probably never thought they were capable of achieving. You must be available to join a 12 week expedition, where you will complete training and three adventure projects during this time.
You could be part of a pioneering team in Tanzania, responsible for managing our first ever expedition in this beautiful country, with plenty of support from Raleigh’s in-country staff. Adventure projects include trekking in Northern Tanzania in the crater highlands or in the forests, grasslands and crater lake capped mountains and volcanoes in the Southern Highlands. The dates of this expedition are 23rd January - 21st April.
In Borneo, the adventure project involves trekking and learning survival skills in the jungle and spending time at the coast where you will qualify as a PADI scuba diver, or advance your existing diving skills. The dates of this expedition are 28th Jan – 27th April.
This is a voluntary role, and all Adventure Project Managers are required to fundraise just £500 for Raleigh International towards the cost of the expedition. In return you will have an incredibly rewarding experience, where you will enter areas inaccessible to tourists and meet and inspire diverse and engaged groups of young people from all over the world. On the expedition, your fellow volunteers will also complete sustainable community development and environmental conservation projects.
If you are interested in going on expedition or finding out more about this fantastic opportunity, it is a great idea to attend the assessment weekend in Sussex on 17th & 18th November.
