International Citizen Service (ICS) is a unique opportunity for you to work with communities in developing countries, making a real difference to the lives of people overseas, and more locally in the UK.
Raleigh International is recruiting team leaders to manage their ICS programmes. Whilst overseas with Raleigh ICS you'll be working in teams of UK and in-country volunteers contributing to development projects that tackle issues around education, health, livelihoods, strengthening civil society, natural resources and the environment.
On Raleigh ICS, activities will cover infrastructure building, resource development, peer to peer education, action research, awareness raising and training. You will work with local NGO partners, trades people and community groups to ensure projects are sustainable and the impact will be felt for a long time after the projects are completed.
Becoming an ICS leader with Raleigh International is your opportunity to lead and inspire a group of young people (volunteers aged 18-25) on a unique international development programme in India, Nicaragua or Tanzania. You can apply to join ICS as a team leader if you are aged 23 or over. You will need to attend a selection day in the UK before being offered an ICS team leader role. Each overseas placement lasts 12 ½ weeks for team leaders. The team leader role is funded by the Department for International Development but team leaders are required to fundraise a minimum of £800 towards the cost of their placement. If you are offered an ICS leader role, your flights, visas, travel and medical insurance, medication and vaccines, food and accommodation will be provided.
