Reach Academy Feltham was founded by a group of teachers who believe that schools, especially large Secondary schools, are not always set up to help young people flourish and fulfil their potential. We decided we wanted to open a different kind of school, one that took children all the way through their school career, from 4 to 18, one that was small, with only 60 pupils in each year, one that worked closely with parents and, most importantly, one that had the highest expectations of what pupils can achieve.
We believe that every young person has the potential to excel in school and develop the skills, attitudes and academic qualifications to go to University if they choose to. We believe this because of our own experience – we have taught pupils who have made dramatic progress when the expectations are high, when they are motivated and when they are well taught.
We have been inspired by transformational schools we have visited around the world, including schools like KIPP and North Star in Newark, which have redefined what young people in the communities they serve can achieve.
The school opened in 2012 and in September 2015 welcomed their fourth cohorts into Primary and Secondary, with more than 500 pupils in the school.
