The Red Chilli Hideaway Limited is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic management couple to help our existing team manage The Red Chilli Hideaway: a large, busy budget lodge and campsite in Kampala. We are looking for a management couple as a permanent addition to the team and commitment would be for a 12 month contract initially, renewable yearly, subject to approval from both parties.
The Red Chilli Hideaway in Kampala was first established in 1998. We specialise in providing great value for money in terms of budget accommodation and safari tours for independent travellers. We have recently relocated to a beautiful, purpose built lake-side plot of land about 10km from the city centre and sleep between 70 and 150 people per night, in a mixture of tents, dorms, & rooms - both with shared bathrooms and ensuite. In addition we have plans to further expand by adding between 5-10 more luxurious self-catering cottages. We also run Red Chilli Rest Camp in Murchison Falls National Park in the North of Uganda.
Red Chilli runs a healthy tour business, organising budget tours to Murchison Falls NP and Queen Elizabeth NP. We currently send over 3,500 people per annum on budget tours to both destinations but plan to add more tours to other areas of Uganda and expand this area of the business as tourism to Uganda continues to grow.
Ideal candidates will be willing to commit for at least 12 months. They will have lived or worked previously in sub-Saharan Africa and have prior experience in the hospitality industry. A lively, friendly and out-going nature are essential!
Ideal candidates will also possess the following:
- Minimum A-level (or equivalent) standard of education.
- Management experience (we currently employ around 50 members of staff)
- Excellent inter-personal skills
- Numeracy and a sound knowledge of book-keeping procedures (day to day and monthly returns).
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Catering experience (oversight of a busy restaurant & bar).
- Experience of tackling repairs and maintenance issues... with any building experience a real plus
- Internationally recognised driving licence
Hours will be flexible but will include early starts and late finishes, though not always at the same time!
Other perks include the chance to go on the odd safari, see plenty of hippos, and indulge in some of the other safari and adventure activities available in Uganda!
