Reports to: Rental Republic Directors

Based at:

RRHQ (near Bourg St Maurice) or any location deemed appropriate for execution of job role.

Job purpose:

To plan, oversee and manage the team so as to maintain operating standards and ensure client retention and continued growth. This will include but will not be limited to the general management of the workshop and daily activities.

RRHQ puts boots/skis and snowboards on the feet of thousands of skiers and snowboarders each winter in a variety of resorts in the French Alps.

This is a hands-on role within a small team so you will be required to assist the operations manager on a day-to-day basis.

It will be expected that you join the ‘on-call’ Rota with the rest of the team.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Achieve the targets as set out by the company for continued season on season operational excellence and continued business growth.
  • Effectively and promptly deal with customer complaints and issues.
  • Total management of a team of staff circa 15 strong
  • Driver/Technician/Office Rota planning and implementation
  • Develop manage and look after staff through appropriate support, training programmes and succession planning.
  • Effectively and promptly deal with employee relations issues
  • Ensure minimum staff turnover through effective management and the development of a fab camaraderie through the season.
  • Ensure staff take ownership of all aspects of the customer journey
  • Ensure maximum customer satisfaction through provision of high quality services and facilities, maintaining and reporting of customer feedback (through web application) and taking appropriate steps ensure the bar remains as high as ever.
  • Manage the provision of an efficient operation ensuring that all standards defined by the standards / operations manual are exceeded
  • Assisting the Operations Manager

Person profile - General Manager

Personality:

Self-driven, results-orientated people person with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality service and business profit. A natural leader calm under pressure, mature, credible, and comfortable in stressful situations and with all types of personality

Reliable, tolerant, FLEXIBLE and determined an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view whilst ensuring company objectives are always upheld. Well presented and businesslike. Keen for new experience, responsibility, accountability and looking for an opportunity to be a valuable and primary person within the organisation.

Ability to inspire others and lead from the front is a must.

Knowledge and experience of the Alpine ski holiday market and ski rental market is a distinct advantage.

Personal Situation: Must be located in the Bourg St Maurice area of the French Alps area during busy winter season. Able to work extended hours during peak weeks or occasions when required.

Essential Job Skills:

  • Ability to communicate and motivate the team
  • A clear understanding of seasonal and operational issues.
  • A passion for customer service.
  • Must appreciate the paramount need for operating excellence and be willing to deliver this, whatever it takes.
  • Must also act in the best interest of the company at all times.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO CONVERSE IN FRENCH.

Computer skills:

We are a technology driven company with a start up mentality. Must be adept in use of MS Office suite, email (Gmail) and web applications (Google maps). Training will be provided for in house systems.

General skills and attitude:

Must be an excellent communicator on the telephone and face to face. Must be able to demonstrate management experience of a small tight knit team (15+ persons), success in previous roles, initiative, and willingness to achieve the very highest level of customer services and drive to deliver no matter what problems or time constraints occur.

Hours:

Due to the nature of the role the actual number of hours worked will vary from week to week in accordance with seasonal fluctuations of demand for our services and the employee’s ability. Our standard base working week is 44 hours.
