Do you want to use your skills and energy to make the world a better place? Do you want to help business become part of the solution to the massive social and environmental problems humanity faces?

Profit Through Ethics Ltd is a social business based in London, UK. Working collaboratively with businesses, leading NGOs and individuals we have created Responsible 100.

Responsible 100 is a management tool, a business ranking, a public internet platform, an identification mark and a growing social movement.

www.responsible100.com was unveiled for the first time in March 2013 as a live demonstration running under a pilot phase. It will go through several development and upgrade cycles over the coming months and soon become a world class platform.

We are looking for an ambitious digital media intern to join us for a limited period. Or for a professional (at least someone with appropriate skills and experience) looking to change career path. In large part, the opportunity will be determined by the right applicant or applicants.

We have run a successful 15-day unpaid internship/volunteer scheme through the London School of Economics for many years. We invest in the masters students who join us over the first 4-5 days. Over the remainder of their tenure, they are then able to contribute to any number of different, general tasks our core team may be looking for help with. Beyond 15 days, we think any unpaid work is exploitative, so that is the maximum time people are with us. Many of our interns have gone on to take up paid positions.

However, this new digital media role is more specific. We are after people who, at the very least, can get our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn profiles into shape. And ideally, use them effectively to help us raise awareness in Responsible 100 and drive traffic to our site.

We are flexible about how the role is structured. Hours per week and pay will depend on your level of experience and circumstances. And whether you are able to assist with digital media work, or are able to design and implement digital marketing strategies that complement our overarching roll out strategy.

We are also keen to hear from professionals (or Masters students/graduates) who have experience in developing digital marketing strategies and are keen for experience within responsible and ethical business.

In short, we are looking to create a full time, paid role ASAP, but we need a little help getting there.

Minimum requirements:

  • A social media whizz (Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, etc…)
  • An ideas person with creative flair
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Articulate / good communicator
  • Ability to work on own initiative with little/no supervision as well as within a team
  • Eager to learn new skills
  • Previous work experience is desirable – e.g. e-campaigning, public relations, marketing
  • Interest in other types of media (e.g. photography, audio or video) is helpful
  • Interest in business responsibility and ethics

We offer:

  • A flexible position leading to a paid, full-time position within the company
  • Expenses and/or a London living wage depending on circumstances
  • Flexible starting time (preferably asap)
  • A relaxed, supportive environment
  • Genuine hands on experience
  • A unique opportunity in a truly innovative, dynamic, ground-breaking social business
  • A friendly work space in central London (Aldgate East) with easy transport links
