The Launcher Program

The Launcher Program is a new and exciting program that offers business startup finance to entrepreneurs. More information about the program can be found here:

We are looking for a Loan Approver who will be responsible for approving loans and providing loan application support to applicants. This is a permanent full-time position but offered on a 3-year contract. There may be options to work from home.

What will the role involve?

Being part of a start up can mean you’re often doing a million things at once but for the most part the role will involve:

  • Reviewing short business descriptions and cash-flows to assess viability of the company and their ability to repay the loan
  • Interpreting the environment and market conditions that could impact the viability of the business
  • Analysing the suitability of the loan to the business
  • Making recommendations to reject, approve, or request additional information for each loan application.
  • Recording detailed notes on interactions with applications
  • Providing one-on-one phone support to applicants. For many applicants it will be the first time they have applied for a loan and/or completed a cash-flow so patience and coaching skills are essential.
  • Liaising with the other Senior Loan Approver, Loan Coordinator, Business Support Team, and outsourcing agency as required

What sort of background or skills will you have?

  • Strong financial experience – you may be a chartered accountant or have previous banking experience
  • History of working within a small business
  • Experience reviewing, inputting to, and developing business plans
  • Experience understanding cash-flows and the ability to provide clear and calm advice on preparing one
  • Extensive background in dealing with a range of people and personalities
  • Experience approving unsecured loan applications is an advantage
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to provide support to a young audience
  • Organised and able to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a small and extremely dynamic start-up environment
  • Able to deal with stress, tight timeframes, competing priorities and still able to laugh at the end of the day
