The Legal & Financial Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of Seedrs’s internal legal and financial functions. The role is primarily a legal one and will include:

  • Drafting, reviewing and monitoring the our commercial contracts with investors, entrepreneurs and partners
  • Running our FCA compliance processes on a day-to-day basis, including KYC checks, periodic reporting, training and oversight of staff and related matters
  • Engaging with government on policy matters related to crowdfunding
  • Managing our corporate matters, including shareholder agreements and communications, board matters and government filings
  • Providing support to the CEO and Investment Director on a range of legal matters
In addition, the role will include certain financial and administrative duties, including:
  • Overseeing the preparation of our management and annual accounts, and managing the our annual external audit 
  • Handling our payments and other financial transactions, including client money processes
  • Administering payroll, property management and basic HR matters
Although this role has a number of components, it is intended to be performed entirely during normal working hours.
The successful candidate will be a UK-qualified lawyer at 3+ PQE level who is registered and in good standing with the SRA or Bar Council. In addition, the following skills and experience are highly desireable:
  • Experience practicing corporate, commercial, financial or a related field of law with a top-tier law firm or chambers
  • A good 2:1 or better/equivalent from a major university
  • Outstanding attention to detail and focus on process
  • Some experience working with the FCA or predecessor bodies
  • Some knowledge of accountancy and financial reporting principles
  • Fluent English and excellent writing skills
  • A desire to work in a varied role within an exciting, high-profile, fast-growing business.
