Britain’s Personal Best (BPB) is a project of the charity Society Network Foundation (SNF). BPB is a new annual mass participation event that promotes personal accomplishment, group interaction, volunteering and charitable fundraising.
Supported by a wide range of partner organisations and funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Britain’s Personal Best will enable everyone in the UK regardless of their age, situation or circumstances to participate. Britain’s Personal Best builds on the extraordinary social energy unleashed by the Olympics and Paralympics in the summer of 2012.
Britain’s Personal Best has been developed over the past nine months with the support of over one hundred volunteers who have devoted thousands of hours of time freely to help support the bid to BIG.
Our web and mobile platform will enable charities, schools and other civil society organisations to establish campaigns and challenges which enable people and communities to come together and accomplish personal bests. These could include athletic, creative, educative or entrepreneurial focused achievements.
Britain’s Personal Best is one of four founding projects within Big Lottery Fund’s Spirit of 2012 Trust, which aims to ensure the 2012 spirit continues to thrive in communities through to 2014 and beyond. By 2015 we would like to have created the largest mass participation event in Britain.
The first Britain’s Personal Best weekend will take place on 4-6 October 2013.
