Spark Inside is an innovative start-up charity providing life coaching to young people transitioning out of juvenile custody, empowering them to discover their passions, take responsibility for their own lives and strive to reach their potential. Life coaching is strongly distinct from mentoring: “coachees” set and reach personal goals through self-reflection rather than advice, guidance or counseling. Spark Inside is adapting a proven model from Canada, where life coaching drastically reduced the offending behaviour of formerly prolific young offenders. Spark Inside’s pilot commenced in January 2013.
