Last month we organised the first ever marathon to be held in Sierra Leone. We had 386 competitors, including 170 international runners who  helped raise over £400,000 for the charity Street Child of Sierra Leone. It was an amazing experience and one that will be remembered by everyone for as long as they live. More importantly though, the money will make a real difference to the children living on the streets in Sierra Leone.

This marathon is unique not only because it's in Sierra Leone but because all the runners were united in raising money for one specific cause and because they all got to see where the money they had raised was being put to work. This ensured a level of engagement I have not experienced anywhere else.

We are getting ready to launch the 2013 marathon and want it to be even bigger. We need help in the London office (Bishopsgate). Initially we are concentrating on promotion of the race which means doing lots of research, finding corporate sponsorship, recruiting runners and persuading celebrities/patrons to come on board. All of that needs to start immediately. In a few weeks time, once we have an idea of numbers, we will begin the exciting and daunting task of planning the logistics of the race.

If you think you can help, either full time or part time, then please get in touch. Anyone with research, administration, promotion, marketing, event planning, marathon or Africa experience would be ideal as would anyone with a strong desire and drive to help achieve something incredible.
