Our goal is to help create opportunities through education for some of the most vulnerable children in the world. We work directly with street children in their own environment towards reunification with their families, reintroduction to education & the creation of a sustainable home-life for their ongoing upbringing. From 2010 to 2012 we helped more than 10,000 children gain access to education.

Street Child is a volunteer-led charity which works to help children get off the streets, back home and into full time education. Street Child provides children still living on the streets with vital food, medical care, clothing and counselling. And we help to provide deprived rural communities with their first-ever basic schools.
Ten years after a brutal civil war, Sierra Leone is one of the poorest places in the world. While this small and beautiful West African country is now at peace, there are still thousands of children living on the streets in Sierra Leone, many of them orphans of poverty and war. Our pledge is to spend 90% of our donations in Sierra Leone, and to keep our office overheads in London as low as possible. As a result of our work since 2008, over 1000 children have been reunited with their families, and over 3000 children are now in school.
Community Fundraiser Intern Role
At Street Child, we are very proud of our volunteer-based approach. Our small London team provides strategic oversight for the programme work in Sierra Leone, focuses on fundraising and communications for the development and expansion of Street Child, and provides administrative and other support for the work in Sierra Leone and beyond.
We are very lucky to have some fantastic volunteers committed to our cause, and we are now looking for an outstanding individual to undertake a Community Fundraiser internship. The internship will be 3-5 days a week and expenses will be covered.
The role will be busy and varied but the primary focus will be assisting the Schools and Community Officer with creating and developing secondary school resources and lesson plans along-side a youth leadership programme. You will all so be assisting in promoting the charity to different school and community groups, engaging them in a fundraising partnership with Street Child.
This is a particularly busy time for the charity so your help in the general day to day running of the organisation would be crucial. The job will be busy and diverse offering you the opportunity to shape your own experience here according to your skills, goals and knowledge, and we will do our best to support you in your career development.
