Sutton Community Farm

Sutton Community Farm

Sutton Community Farm

Sutton Community Farm is a not-for-profit social enterprise growing fresh vegetables using organic principles, as well as providing a shared space for the local community to cultivate skills. Our farm was started in 2010 by the local community, with support from environmental charity BioRegional. Community consultation had identified a need for local, fresh food, employment and skills. So with a small team of staff and a large group of volunteers, we started the process of nurturing 7 acres of derelict land overlooking the London skyline back to life. We have made tremendous progress so far; starting from an empty field, we are now a fully functioning farm that grew over 100,000 meals last year. Our farm has four main aims: - To increase local food supply, grown sustainably; - To create inclusive, shared spaces for the community to cultivate skills; - To be community-led and not-for-profit; - To achieve economic stability, supporting land-based employment.
