We are looking for candidates with a track record in supporting the delivery of challenging and complex commissions within tight timescales. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of climate change adaptation/resilience strategy action planning as well as advising construction sector organisations on sustainability issues.
In this role, you will be expected to make a significant contribution to the overall running and effective management of the business. You will champion at least one and, in most cases, a number of service areas in line with Temple’s business plan, and to make an important contribution on technical and professional matters. You will lead and project manage small to medium size contracts commensurate with your ability and skills and support the “senior” team on large projects. You will be expected to contribute to health and safety risk assessments on a project basis and coach staff where appropriate.
Essential Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Attributes
  • First degree in an environmental/sustainability or engineering discipline
  • Membership of IEMA or CIWEM
  • Proposal development and competitive tender experience
  • Climate change mitigation and adaptation/resilience strategy and action planning for organisations and sectors.
  • Public sector strategic policy-related project experience in climate change adaptation e.g. with Defra’s programmes or the Committee on Climate Change.
  • Advising construction sector organisations.
  • Good understanding of the EU and UK policy landscape for GHG emissions reduction and climate change resilience.
  • Climate change impacts on natural systems and their socio-economic consequences.
  • Good understanding of what Climate Change risks and adaptation means for the infrastructure, construction and development sectors.
  • Good understanding of sustainable construction standards (BREEAM, CEEQUAL, SKA, LEED)
  • Very good, proven writing skills when it comes to reports, briefing papers, articles and tender documents
  • Some Project management experience
  • Articulate – a good communicator, able to present information to a range of target audiences
  • Experience in using UKCIP tools
  • A team worker, supportive with junior colleagues and reliable/dependable in support to Project Managers, Project Directors and other senior colleagues.
  • Keen/enthusiastic to broaden experience and knowledge.
  • Calm in a crisis and uses initiative.
