The Craig Bellamy Foundation is looking for suitably qualified person's to deliver our Science curriculum for the 2014-15 Academic year, 

This Professional Volunteer opportunity will run from August 2014, until July 2015.

Whether you are an experienced teacher on a career break, or just embarking on a classroom career, our Professional Volunteer Programme offers you the chance to gain valuable international experience and the opportunity to really make a difference, whilst enjoying the vibrant life of the West African coast. As well as teaching at the Academy, there are also opportunities to teach at schools in the surrounding community.

Teaching at CBF is an incredibly enriching experience, both professionally and personally. Educators are encouraged to implement creative and experiential based lessons, and are given the freedom to develop their personal teaching style while adhering to the structure of the English national curriculum for Key Stage 3 and 4. Teachers are able to cater for the individual learning needs of their pupils in classes no consisting of no more than 15 children at a time. Within the scaffolding of a committed support system, an enthusiastic and inspired teacher can flourish. CBF provides a framework within which all educators can support young people on the road to further learning, on and off the pitch.


The role


In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Teaching at least one core science subject at Key Stages 2-4
  • Planning and evaluating lessons and setting homework
  • Conducting student assessments and maintaining records
  • Contributing to the Academy Life Skills programme


Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required


  • Teaching Qualification (PGCE) or relevant Bachelor's Degree
  • Good communication skills and ability to adapt to different cultures
  • Enthusiastic, creative and passionate about children and learning
  • Flexible, creative and hard-working


Placement Details


  • Placement duration to be one Academic year, from August 2014 to July 2015.
  • References will be required to confirm suitability to work with children
  • Role would report to the Craig Bellamy Foundation Head of Education
