Start-up Loans Company, chaired by entrepreneur James Caan, is a Government-backed initiative tasked to stimulate enterprise amongst young people across the country. The Government has put aside over £112 million over the next three years to provide start-up funding to entrepreneurs wanting to start a business, and is looking to help start 30,000 businesses and create an entire generation of entrepreneurs.

The company is looking for a talented Financial Analyst to get involved in a hands-on finance role. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved in a high-profile organisation. It’s a fast paced dynamic environment with no two days being the same. It's a fun a challenging place to work. 

We are looking for an individual who is committed, enthusiastic and is a real team player, providing support to different teams in the company with all things financial. This role is varied and offers growth opportunities for the right candidate, it is a real spring board for future career prospects.


Key responsibilities


Reporting to the Finance Business Partner, your role will include:

  • Assisting with financial due diligence of delivery partners and assessing loan decisions;
  • Perform bookkeeping and maintain books and records of all company transactions on our Xero accounting system, including ensuring a correct audit trail;
  • Financial analysis on the performance of the network of delivery partners linking in KPIs;
  • Monthly Excel reporting on credit risk & collections; and
  • Undertake other tasks as directed by the line manager

Key skills and behaviours

  • Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic working environment, handling multiple tasks and deadlines;
  • Excellent analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and accountability;
  • Experience with Xero or equivalent accounting software advantageous but not essential;
  • A confident ability to liaise cross company to solve queries and provide financial assistance; 
  • Bachelors degree, AAT qualified or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, industry or equivalent
