Background and job purpose

Start-up Loans Company (SULC) is a government-backed organisation, chaired by James Caan, tasked to promote entrepreneurship and boost enterprise growth in England.  Its objective is to help young people to start up around 25,000 businesses over the next three years by providing more than £112m and a range of business start-up support services.  To achieve this ambitious goal, we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual with a good grasp of Microsoft Office to provide administrative support to the internal delivery department Start-up Direct.

Key responsibilities

·        Update and manage the CRM system

·        Update the applicant log. This includes spread sheet data entry as allocated by the business support manager

·        Ensure the CRM system is up to date prior to end of week. Liaise with relevant team members to ensure all data has been collected

·        Deal with initial applicant enquiries, making initial contact and sending relevant information to applicants to enable them to progress to next stage

·        Liase with the events and marketing manager in respect of routing new applications to workshops and events for further business support

·        Potential for additional tasks to be added to the role, such as meeting new applicants, introducing the start up loans scheme and identifying business support needs of the applicant


Knowledge and experience

·        Previous admin/team assistant experience highly desirable

·        Ability to cope with pressure and handle multiple tasks and deadlines

·        Well-organised with great attention to detail

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·        Friendly, professional manner

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel

·        Flexible, adaptable and strong team player 

·        Interest in Start-ups and entrepreneurship a bonus
