The University of Edinburgh’s Development & Alumni department is a highly successful unit which seeks significant funding for the University’s strategic priorities. The team finished a £350 Million campaign in November 2012 and are currently planning the next stage of our fundraising efforts. Our fundraisers raise funding from individuals, trusts and companies by developing long-term relationships and by conducting a series of tailored events, visits and communications.

The College of Science and Engineering at The University of Edinburgh is one of the most dynamic and diverse science complexes in the UK, home to seven schools which conduct unique, world-class research and deliver high quality teaching. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced Major Gift Fundraiser to develop a broad platform of support for the College’s priorities over the next 10 years. The postholder will focus their attention on projects such as the School of Biological Sciences, which requires up to £50M for new buildings and projects and The School of Geosciences which has already developed fundraising initiatives around fieldwork. The successful candidate will have a track record of securing six and seven figure gifts from Individuals, Trusts and Companies and have a demonstrable interest in, and enthusiasm for Science and Higher Education. The postholder will also line-mange three officer-grade staff and must have experience of managing fundraising projects.
