Business funding is a complicated industry with many different players. This complexity frequently results in great businesses failing to secure the funding they need to grow. This lack of deals isn't just bad for the individual businesses involved, it's holding back the economy as a whole.

By providing industry players with high-quality data, tools and analysis we believe that we can help get deals done – great for advisors, great for businesses, great for the economy.

We are already the leading source of market intelligence on business funding sources and activity in the UK. Our products and services are used by over 100 private and public sector organisations including corporate finance firms, accountancies, universities and business advisory services.

The Role

We are seeking a customer relations manager to join our team.

You will be responsible for turning the connections we form with our subscribers during the sales process into long-term, productive, working relationships. This activity has been managed by our current resources to-date, but the time has come to create a new, full-time position in the company to concentrate on three main aims:

1) Customer retention. We're a subscription business and pride ourselves on our low cancellation rates. You will be responsible for our on-boarding, training and ongoing customer relations activities with a view to maximising our retention rates.

2) Increasing revenues from existing subscribers. As the range of products and services we offer expands there are an ever growing number of opportunities to provide further services to existing customers. You will be responsible for identifying and acting on these opportunities with a view to increasing our average revenue per customer.

3) Customer feedback. We already receive feedback and dozens of new ideas from our subscribers each month – and that's without trying! You will be responsible for gathering, collating and making sense of feedback from across all our subscribers with a view to helping shape better product and other business decisions.

It goes without saying that you will spend the majority of your time contacting and interacting with our customers, by 'phone, email and face-to-face.

We're a small company and have a flat structure that encourages cooperation and communication. Your views will make an impact from day one. You will work alongside the directors (who are serial entrepreneurs) and our current team and will no doubt get involved in other activities outside your role from time to time.

This is a full-time, permanent role commencing ASAP. You will work full-time at our London office (nearest tube: Brixton).

UKFunders has a small, friendly, collaborative team and you will play an important role within it. To be successful in this role, you must:

• Genuinely enjoy listening to and interacting with customers

• Have a strong desire to use your excellent relationship skills to achieve business objectives

• Have an excellent manner both on the 'phone and face-to-face

• Be clear and patient enough to deal with training and support queries

• Have excellent communication skills - both written and oral

• Work well under your own initiative

• Effectively manage projects and your time

• Have good IT skills

• Be eager to contribute your skills and ideas to a small, fast-growing company

You are not expected to have had a previous customer relationship or account management role, but you will have had extensive experience interacting with clients (either external or internal) in your previous role(s). You've probably had some experience in marketing / PR / digital agency life but, whilst you've delivered excellent results, you're looking to move on to a new challenge where you can take more responsibility, use your strong relationship skills to your advantage and make a real impact.

You don't need to know everything about the various types of finance available to businesses, but it would be advantageous to have some prior knowledge of industry terms and you must be interested in learning more about this area.

You will need to be flexible with your working hours to accommodate, for example, travel to visit customers across the UK or hosting a dinner with customers.
