WRI’s Climate and Energy Program (CEP) seeks a highly motivated and innovative Communications Coordinator to implement communications efforts as well as the training program for the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol. The GHG Protocol is the most widely used international accounting tool for government and business leaders to understand, quantify, and manage GHG emissions, and provides the accounting framework for nearly every GHG standard and program worldwide.

The Communications Coordinator will help the GHG Protocol team meet its objectives by increasing the volume, focus, and impact of outreach to target audiences including the business community, policymakers, and media at the national, subnational, and international level. The individual will also support the GHG Protocol training program, focusing on coordinating webinars and increasing program outreach and marketing. The anticipated time split will be 60% on GHG Protocol communications and 40% on the training program.

Responsibilities:

Communications:

  • Lead GHG Protocol communications efforts and serve as primary liaison with WRI External Relations staff
  • Lead the development and execution of strategic communication plans for the GHG Protocol, working with the team to identify high-priority projects, publications, and events and to highlight GHG Protocol research, analysis, and experts
  • Seek opportunities to build staff expert visibility – through media engagement, blog posts, internal and external events, and other venues
  • Develop and maintain traditional (e.g., press releases, brochures) and advanced (e.g., blogs, social media) communication and outreach tools
  • Maintain and update the GHG Protocol website
  • Help edit GHG Protocol working papers, journal articles, and other materials
  • Help manage partner relationships around implementation of communications strategies
  • Manage GHG Protocol branding, including fielding and responding to logo usage requests

Training:

  • Coordinate training webinars on GHG Protocol standards, including processing of payments and responding to inquiries on the training program
  • Conduct outreach to promote the trainings
  • Support the development of e-learning platforms by communicating with the contractor and reviewing the project at various stages of development

Qualifications:

At least 2 years’ professional experience in communications and/or marketing
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, with excellent academic record
Excellent writing, editing, and oral communications skills
Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HTML; familiarity with Drupal a plus
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator) a plus
