Social innovation course in London. A year to test and build solutions to some of society's toughest problems.

About us

Year Here is a platform for graduates and young professionals who want to build smart solutions to entrenched social problems.

Unlike a traditional Master's degree, it's immersive, action-oriented – and grounded in the daily experience of those at the frontline of inequality.

RachelSwan

Our Fellows try their hand at building creative and entrepreneurial responses to social problems, supported by industry mentoring and a rigorous social innovation curriculum.

We run two programmes per year, kicking off in Autumn and Spring. Upcoming programme dates:

  • 29th August 2016 – 7th July 2017
  • 27th February 2017 – 22nd December 2017

Year Here was launched in March 2013 and, since then, has run four programmes for 63 graduates and been named one of Britain's 50 New Radicals by Nesta and The Observer. As part of the course, our Fellows have collectively volunteered 40,000 hours volunteered in frontline services – including homeless shelters, community centres and Pupil Referral Units.

We've also launched 7 ventures like Settle, supporting vulnerable young people who are moving into their first home, Rootless Garden, running nature-inspired activities to reduce the isolation of older people, and Birdsong, an online marketplace selling fashion products made by vulnerable women – and ploughing its profits back into the women's charities who support them.

Year Here is a social enterprise; meaning that we are a company that exists to bring about positive change in society rather than to maximise shareholder profits. We are governed by a social charter that keeps it that way.
