Who we are

We believe that you don’t have to go half way round the world for experiences that thrill you, challenge you and shake up your worldview. That’s why we’ve launched a very different kind of gap year.

In a few busy months, we’ve got some incredible partners together – like Teach First, Citizens UK and Centrepoint, won awards, launched our first graduate fellowship programme and got great publicity in the Evening Standard, on BBC London and in The Guardian.

We’re a small and committed team of four who care deeply about being really effective professionals, learning with restless vigour and having fun along the way.

We’re looking for a self-starter who will flourish in a startup leadership role. As Programme Manager, you'll be taking the reins on the day-to-day management of our social leadership programmes. Whether it's adventurous school leavers or driven graduates, you'll know how to design and manage a programme that is a truly transformative experience. You'll work closely with the CEO to design the programme, with support from our Social Innovation Designer and Programme Coordinator.

Some of the big challenges that we’d like you to take on are:

Programme Management (obviously) – designing and managing all sorts of learning experiences for our fellows – from volunteering placements in care homes to prototyping training in the highlands of Scotland and 24 hour challenges like the Hackney Human Library.

Relationship management – nurturing our growing faculty of trainers, expert speakers and mentors so that fellows are surrounded with the leading thinkers in social innovation.

Sales + partnerships – working with the CEO to unlock tonnes of opportunities in schools, community centres and homeless shelters across the country – and working out how we manage 100s of relationships with charities, startups, government and investors.

Training + facilitation – getting your hands dirty in facilitating much of the 2014 programme – ensuring that fellows’ experiences are truly transformative.

Above all, a great attitude. You’ll be ambitious but humble, hungry to learn, driven to achieve great things in your career, and resourceful enough to make a lot happen from a little.

Exceptional communication skills. You’ll be charming, persuasive and a great listener – helping you manage relationships, win business and develop new partnerships.

Accomplished facilitation and training abilities. You’ll have solid experience of teaching, facilitating or training young people – and be excited about planning and facilitating new session formats to get the most out of a group.

A great head for strategy, coupled with a sharp eye for the detail: you’ll be extremely organised and analytical.

Connected. You’re well connected in your own industry and others, naturally building a powerful network of peers and mentors.

A passion for young people and serious social impact.

Nice to haves

Entrepreneurialism. You might have set something up in the past or you’re planning to in the future.

Sales and client relationship management experience.

Familiarity with social innovation and the UK social sector.

* Please note that we are also currently hiring a Programme Coordinator
