As our Helpline gets busier each day we are looking to train new Help Line Operators.

The role of the Helpline call operator is to provide information tailored to the needs of each enquirer, and to provide emotional support in an empathetic and empowering way. Good listening skills are used to help identify exactly what the enquirer’s needs are and to provide the appropriate support required during a call, but counselling is not provided.

A typical call will include elements of straightforward information giving (e.g. contact details of their nearest practitioner), listening to and empathising with the caller’s experience/situation.

The Helpline service aims to empower people by providing good quality information and appropriate support to enable that person to make decisions about how they choose to improve their health. Helpline operators should understand and share the core values and goals of Yes to Life.

Full training is given and we also provide a support group for all our Help Line Operators.
