How I can help Esc members

We advise businesses on how to optimise their cash flow, prepare a business plan, which gross profit margins/prices are appropriate and advise on how to run their business cost effectively.

Currently...

I saw a complete lack of affordable, high quality business advice available to small businesses so I set up the http://www.onthespottax.co.uk/" rel="nofollow">On The Spot service.

Why On The Spot? To acknowledge that small businesses need prompt, focussed, F2F, spot on finance advice and to be treated as the best client, not the bottom of the pile.

Before I escaped...

For over 20 years, I worked through the City training, Big 4 experience and big corporate route.

After a while, there were too many ground hog days with the same old office politics preventing real progress and growth. It stopped being interesting.

There was a clear need for a F2F finance service in the small business sector. OK, it's still using the same professional skills, but it's in a totally different way.

My moment of truth...

When staring out the window after yet another unproductive meeting, and after hearing about friends receiving an alarmingly poor service from their accountants.

Planning for it...

After preparing a business plan I lived off my savings until I had a core number of clients.

The worst and best bits...

Best: The variety of work and people, and being able to work closely with your clients.

Worst: Some networking contacts do behave badly and waste your time chasing you up trying to get business out of you. This does not work! you should use networking to build relationships.

Best advice...

Keep It Simple.
