Water dispensing startup seeks BDM to help end single use plastic water bottles

The Role

You will be employee number one at ape2o, joining our founding team with a focus on increasing the number of our Big Ape water dispensing machines within high footfall public locations across London and rest of the UK.

We already have 8 machines installed and a pipeline of further installations to put us on track for 25 by the end of 2022.

Your focus will be on outreach via phone and email to landowners and landlords of high footfall locations, many of these prospects will be large national businesses where we can secure multi-site deals.

You’ll introduce our product and explain how it works for a customer - there is no upfront cost to them, it contributes to their sustainability targets and provides an extra revenue stream so it is almost always a welcome introduction.

We have an established and effective sales process, which can take anything from a few weeks to several months to complete - really depending on the customer.

While we have established processes and a wealth of collateral available, we will welcome your input and you’ll have the opportunity to make changes and help us refine the way we work.

We also sell stainless steel double-walled bottles (100% plastic free) and striking T-shirts (made from 100% plastic bottles!) and you can help support this extra revenue stream, through approaching retailers close to new Big Ape installations to encourage them to stock our products.

Your Experience

Perhaps the most important factor is that you share our passion for tackling the issue of single-use plastic bottles. You don’t need to be an activist, but you’ll need to explain why our vision resonates with you.

You’ll need some previous sales experience. We’re open-minded about the products and client base you have been dealing with but we’ll want to hear about the targets you worked to and the success you achieved.

We’ll also want to hear about the sales process you have followed. What steps did you take? Why were they important? Perhaps even how it could be improved.

Excellent written and spoken English is crucial, you’ll be dealing with the leaders of some of the UK’s largest companies.

Building and maintaining relationships will be crucial in this role so we’ll want to hear about your approach to turn prospects into customers in the past.

Finally, you’ll need a degree of flexibility and a willingness to travel. We are focused mainly on the London area, but you might need to travel further afield from time to time.
