The Accounts Team
Our Accounts Payable team works across all parts of the business, with a focus on Low Carbon Group companies involved in Development and Operational assets. As we grow the client portfolio, as well as our own Low Carbon portfolio, we are looking for a new Accounts Assistant to join the Finance Team. Based in London, the team is a close-knit collaborative set of accounting and finance professionals with a strong customer focus, high standards, and the drive to have a significant impact on Climate Change.
The Role
The purpose of the role is to take responsibility of AR, AP and bank reconciliations and payment runs for a group of companies within Low Carbon. This would suit someone looking to gain further experience in their finance career and has prior experience within a transactional finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly payment run for approval and payment
- Performing weekly bank reconciliations across multiple banking platforms for both GBP and foreign currency payments
- Enter all purchase invoices on the accounting system in a timely and accurate manner
- Obtain authorisation from the appropriate person for all purchase invoices
- Where any discrepancies or issues arise with sales and purchase invoices, raise this with the Controller / Treasurer in order that a timely resolution can be identified
- Maintain files for Purchase invoices, bank statements, sales invoices, and VAT returns whilst supporting with Audit requests
- Where AP is outsourced to a service provider, provide AP and AR invoices to this service provider on a regular basis
- Ensuring month end duties are performed by the 3rd working day of the month
- Reviewing aged debtors and escalating overdue receipts and ensure all sales invoices are raised / posted accurately and in a timely manner
Person Specification
We're looking for someone who shares our passion for climate change, has a can do attitude and will strive for continual process improvement. The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and will:
- Demonstrate attention to detail as well as the ability to manage and priorities completing tasks
- Have exposure of working in an accounts department with multiple entities would be beneficial
- Have exposure to Access Dimensions and Sage X3 (beneficial)
- Have a positive attitude and collaborative working style
- Be a strong multi-tasker, well organised and with excellent time management skills
- Have a natural focus on accuracy and details
- Have a growth mindset, keen to learn and take on new challenges
Skills & Experience
- A degree qualified finance professional or equivalent
- Excellent excel skills
- Experience of working in a busy Accounts Payable department, or a good understanding of accounting principles
- Exposure within the renewable energy sector would be beneficial but not essential
- A European language would be beneficial, specifically, German, Polish, Finnish, Dutch or Swedish
