The Role:
We are looking for a Product Design Lead to join the team in our London office. You will shape and lead on the design of products that communicate our vision and help people shop from over 11,000 designers and 8 million products.
You will bring leadership and direction to Design and be responsible for developing and managing the processes, controls and governance required to deliver these outcomes. You'll also be responsible for overseeing the resolution of complex design decisions across Lyst.
You will be accountable for design from concept through sketches and prototypes all the way to delivery and execution. You will have a strong aesthetic sense, an intuitive understanding of interface and UX design and be comfortable managing and developing Product Designers.
You will be an advocate within the company for the user & help the company develop a stronger sense of design thinking.
Responsibilities:
- Implementing design and brand strategies that support Lyst's product vision
- Building and scaling a user-first design team that supports our Product organisation, mentoring and managing Product Designers of varying skill levels
- Collaborating with the product team to design the UX and UI of our products, releases, and features, ensuring they're both functional and delightful
- Integrating Lyst's brand and values into our design aesthetics, creating a cohesive and recognisable visual identity
- Accountable for Lyst's design systems and infrastructure, enabling us to scale design efficiently across all our products
- Championing design thinking and advocating for design's role in driving business success, collaborating closely with our Marketing and Product teams
- Representing and promoting Lyst's design efforts outside the company, such as at industry events, conferences, or in publications
Requirements
- Extensive product design experience and solid experience of managing and leading a team
- A history of building and scaling top-notch design teams in fast-paced, product-driven environments, all while being an incredible mentor to designers at every level
- Expertise in design tools like Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools like InVision or Axure
- The ability to develop and implement design systems and infrastructure that can keep up with our growing needs
- Great communication and presentation skills that allow you to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams (think engineering, product, and marketing), explain design decisions, and get everyone excited about design thinking
- The ability to collaborate with our user research and analytics teams, using both qualitative and quantitative insights to create designs that users will love
- Proven experience in e-commerce design—we'd be thrilled if you've worked in fashion retail!
- The ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment without missing a beat
- A real passion for creating amazing user experiences and championing user-centric design throughout the company
- The enthusiasm to be an ambassador for Lyst's design efforts, both within the company and at industry events and conferences
- A portfolio that showcases your user-centric design solutions across different platforms (web, mobile, you name it), highlighting your strong UX and UI design skills
