Role Summary:Act as Principal Engineer for an ESM flight model.Support the Chief Engineer in requirements baseline management.Maintain interface with NASA regarding technical baselines.Monitor industry implementation of ESM changes.Organize and conduct technical reviews.Coordinate with the ESM System Engineering Team for design evolution across flight models.
Role Requirements:Master’s degree in a relevant field.Extensive experience in ESA space systems development.Proficient in verification and project review processes for large projects.Familiarity with ECSS and/or NASA Space Standards.Systems engineering expertise for complex space projects.

The Directorate of Human and Robotic Exploration Programmes (D/HRE) is a programme directorate within ESA. Through a partnership between humans and robots, D/HRE is dedicated to exploring destinations in space in which humans are already living and working – or will live and work in the future – for the purpose of scientific research, economic development, international cooperation and public inspiration.
The role entails acting as Principal Engineer for one ESM flight model by: supporting the Chief Engineer with requirements baseline maintenance; interfacing with NASA in respect of the technical baseline; monitoring the implementation of ESM changes by industry; supporting the organisation and conduct of reviews; coordinating with the other members of the ESM System Engineering Team to ensure a coherent and smooth evolution of the ESM design across flight models.
Job requirements include a master’s degree in a relevant domain, significant relevant experience in ESA space systems development, verification and project review processes for large projects, experience with ECSS and/or NASA Space Standards and their implementation, and experience in systems engineering principles, processes and methodologies for complex space projects.
