Salary: £50,000 - £60,000
The Opportunity...
Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in scaling up innovative adsorbent media products for PFAS removal? This role offers the chance to lead technical projects that transition from lab-based research to large-scale manufacturing, solving key issues in process optimisation, safety, and cost efficiency.
Imagine yourself collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, sitting between product development and engineering and liaising with external partners, driving the development and optimisation of manufacturing processes. If you are passionate about chemical engineering and thrive in collaborative and innovative settings, this is the opportunity you've been looking for.
What You’ll Be Doing...
Using your expertise, reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will lead the transfer of adsorbent media syntheses from the lab to pilot plant and ultimately to full-scale manufacturing. Your role will involve:
Process optimisation: Troubleshooting and optimising lab and pilot scale processes to ensure they meet cost, safety, and environmental standards.
Experimentation: Designing and conducting experiments to identify optimal process conditions for scaling up the production of adsorbent media products.
Project management: Acting as the main technical point of contact for external scale-up partners and managing the organisation of pilot and scale-up activities.
Problem-solving: Collaborating with partners to troubleshoot manufacturing/piloting issues and identify technical solutions for optimal industrial production.
Reporting: Compiling high-quality technical reports and presentations.
Using your experience in process development, you will ensure that new adsorbent media products are brought to market efficiently, with optimal performance and safety standards.
This role will include some travel to manufacturing and supplier sites
What You’ll Need to Be Successful...
To excel in this role, you will need:
- A degree in Chemical Engineering or Biochemical Engineering
- Extensive knowledge and practical experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams to take products from the lab into pilot plant and full-scale manufacture within the chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience in the evaluation and scale-up of processes such as mixing, heat transfer, solids handling, solid/liquid separations, drying, and liquid/liquid separations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to generate innovative solutions.
- An understanding of material characterization and analytical techniques (e.g., PSD, FTIR, XPS, TGA-DSC, GC-MS, elemental analysis).
- Experience in executing capital projects including specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of process equipment.
- Experience in generating batch manufacturing records, including in-process testing requirements.
If you have most but not all of the experience required, please still make an application.
If you are ready to make a significant impact in process development and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply and join us on this exciting journey!
