We are a new charity, particularly interested in Trustees with a professional background in public health, medical or children’s literature. We are also looking for experience in governance, quality assurance and risk management.

What will you be doing?

We have a small Trustee Board and the charity is new with no paid staff. The role of Trustee is voluntary and non-executive, providing a rewarding opportunity to use your expertise and experience to provide a secure, robust base for the charity to develop. Trustees hold the ultimate responsibility for the governance of Neurotastic and ensuring that it is solvent, well run and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it was set up.   Skills and experience required in the following areas:

Medical or public health e.g. public health consultant, GP Publishing or children’s literature, related marketing experience Charity law and governance, risk management Charity development and leadership, high level management

  Personal qualities:

Strong commitment to the charitable objects and work plan priorities of Neurotastic Ability to place the charity needs of Neurotastic before person interests Integrity and high ethical standards Pragmatic and impartial Willingness to listen to and accept the views of others Ability to use video conferencing and email

What are we looking for?

Trustees are required to:

Ensure that Neurotastic pursues its stated charitable objects through supporting it’s vision, values and strategy. Ensure that the operational plans and budgets support the vision and strategy. Ensure that there is a good risk management and safety policy in place that is regularly reviewed. Ensure that the organisation complies with charity law, Articles of Associaton, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations. Ensure that the values and reputation of the organisation are upheld. Ensure the financial stability of the organisation. Ensure that there are appropriate policies and procedures and that these are regularly updated and reviewed by the Trustee Board. Ensure that Neurotastic acts in accordance with employment law and exercises a duty of care to volunteers and employees. (Neurotastic does not employ paid workers at present, however this may change in the future). Ensure that the board regularly reviews its own training needs and creates an expectation of continuous professional development throughout the organisation. Ensure that all trustees, volunteers and workers have agreed the code of conduct and other relevant policies and that there are mechanisms for the removal of trustees who do not abide by these. Ensure that there are good recruitment and induction processes for volunteersand trustees. To avoid unauthorised conflict of interests.

This information pack contains details of the charity, our mission, aims and the impact we hope to make.  Our goal at Neurotastic is to increase the wellbeing of children and their families with neurodevelopmental conditions. We focus on complexity, less well-known aspects and overlap. Families face many challenges: finding services, information and advocating for a child’s needs. The system is set up around a main diagnosis, however, each individual is unique. Strengths can be overlooked. We aim to make it easier for families by providing quality information; surveys and children’s books.
