  • Role Summary
    • Drive the integration of battery energy storage onto the Italian network.
    • Involvement in strategy, feasibility, design, procurement, and development of battery energy storage systems (BESS).
    • Significant impact on planning and authorization processes.
    • Environmental and civil engineering tasks related to BESS projects.
    • Monitor authorization processes and coordinate with external stakeholders.
    • Work closely with both the Italian and UK teams to maintain consistency across the group.

    • Degree in Environmental Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or Urban Planning.
    • Experience in authorization processes and environmental impact assessments.

    • Fluency in English and Italian.

A bit about Field

At Field, we’re accelerating the build out of renewable energy infrastructure to reach net zero. We are starting with battery storage, storing up energy for when it’s needed most to create a more reliable, flexible and greener grid. We will show that batteries are a totally viable part of our energy infrastructure - now, not in some distant future. 

We have ambitious plans to become the defining new clean energy player in Europe over the next few years, gradually expanding beyond batteries into new asset types.

Overview

This is an excellent opportunity to drive forward the penetration of battery energy storage onto the Italian network, across the transmission and distribution network, paving the way forward for Net Zero. You will be exposed to all stages of the process, from wider strategy, feasibility, design, procurement, and development of BESS, providing a unique opportunity for professional development across a wide technical remit.






Key Responsibilities


The project manager - permitting is a key role with the opportunity to have a significant impact in the development activities with a specific focus on the planning (autorizzazione unica). We will grow rapidly and so will your responsibilities, so this is not an exhaustive list. There will always be room to learn.

Key responsibilities include, especially in the near term:

  • Assist in all environmental and civil engineering aspects related to the development our battery storage projects in Italy
  • Monitor the authorization process for our battery storage projects and the related infrastructures for connection to the grid / RTN
  • Participate actively in the review all the technical and administrative documents prepared by the consultants, necessary for obtaining authorizations for Field’s BESS projects in Italy
  • Contribute in duly coordination of external stakeholders and partners that will produce the documents necessary to obtain the above mentioned authorisations
  • Collaborate with third-party technical advisors during the course of the activities
  • Team member of preliminary design solutions for the specific site with specific focus on mitigation and environmental compensatory measures

Work in close coordination with the Italian and UK team, to ensure consistency across the group wherever technically possible.




Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

A bit about you

  • you’re an open, clear communicator who enjoys working collaboratively
  • you demonstrate great attention to detail - your drafting is plain and precise, embedding well through commercial principles 
  • you’re very organised - you’ll be spinning a few plates at once, so you’ll need to have tried and tested methods for keeping on top of a varied workload at your fingertips

Experience and skills we look for:

  • degree in Environmental Engineering, Landscape Architecture or Urban Planning
  • good experience in the authorization processes (AU, PAUR, PAS) gained in companies operating in the renewable energy sector - and environmental impact assessments (VIA)
  • knowledge of the technical regulations of the renewable energy / storage sector in Italy is a plus
  • passion for the renewables sector and being part of a purpose-driven business 
  • talented technical drafting skills, with attention to detail
  • ability to manage competing priorities, whilst maintaining the quality of work and a good work-life balance
  • fluent and confident with both written and spoken English and Italian
