Samaritans is looking for a dedicated Senior Financial Accountant to join the Finance team within our Corporate Services directorate. If you have a strong background in financial compliance, statutory accounts, and treasury management, this could be the perfect role for you.
The Role: As our Senior Financial Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and compliance of Samaritans. You'll lead the preparation of statutory accounts, manage audits, and oversee taxation matters. Your expertise will support our mission to reduce suicide by ensuring our financial practices are robust and compliant with sector standards.
The Team: The team is supportive, friendly and has a positive energy. The workload is varied with opportunities for developing new policies and ways of working as well as delivering on day-to-day priorities.
Key Responsibilities: • Line management of one team member • Lead the preparation of annual statutory accounts and coordinate external audits. • Ensure tax compliance, including VAT and Corporation Tax, across the organisation. • Manage treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting and investment management. • Develop and maintain internal financial controls and processes. • Provide financial advice and support to various teams within the organisation.
What We're Looking For: • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, or equivalent) with extensive experience. • Proven experience in statutory accounts, audits, and tax compliance. • Strong knowledge of UK Financial Reporting Standards, particularly FRS 102. • Experience in treasury management and internal financial controls. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels.
