Role Requirements:
- Academic credentials in environmental sciences, global development, or environmental finance.
- On-the-ground experience with cookstove project development and a deep understanding of carbon accounting in this context.
- Experience in managing teams and conducting high-level research.
- Excellent communication skills for both internal coordination and external representation.
- A solid grasp of the Voluntary Carbon Market and the challenges faced by offset projects.

Our ratings and research tools support buyers, intermediaries, investors and carbon project developers.
Founded in April 2020, our 150+ strong team combines climatic and earth sciences, sell-side financial research, earth observation, machine learning, data and technology, engineering, and public policy expertise. We work from four continents.

Job Description:
BeZero is looking for an exceptional candidate with sector expertise in cookstove projects to join our carbon credit ratings team. The ideal candidate would have an academic background in environmental sciences, global development, environmental finance, and/or other relevant fields. In addition, their professional experience will bring knowledge of developing cookstove projects on the ground, auditing/reviewing the carbon accountancy parameters of these projects and/or development of sector-relevant methodologies.
In-depth knowledge of the Voluntary Carbon Offset Market is essential. We are looking for a driven, creative and intellectually curious individual excited by the prospect of working at an innovative start-up aiming to rethink the frameworks within which credits from such projects as assessed for quality.
The role will be focused on the management of scientists that research the science and evidence behind different types of projects in the cookstoves sub-sector, and continuing to build our database of evidence and ratings and content stream for the sector. The successful candidate will be expected to drive analytical development, BeZero’s research and refine ratings frameworks for this sub-sector. It will also require interacting with both internal and external stakeholders and consequently, strong written, presentational, and oral communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of knowledge in their area of expertise and the ability to create effective messaging for a diverse audience. The candidate will report to BeZero’s Director of Carbon Ratings and can work remotely or from our London-based office on GMT hours.
Responsibilities:
Management of cookstove rating scientists
Research cookstove projects in the voluntary carbon market
Expanding and developing our ratings and analytical models for the sector
Curating our literature database
Writing research reports on market trends and dynamics.
Attending conferences and events representing BeZero Carbon
Working towards monthly targets through delivery of ratings, reviews and content.
Candidate Requirements
Have an academic background in environmental sciences, global development, environmental finance, and/or other relevant fields.
Have professional experience related cookstove projects in the VCM
Have previous management experience
Have strong written and spoken communication skills
Have a strong research background and analytical skills
Be comfortable speaking to high-level clients and external stakeholders
Have a strong understanding of the voluntary carbon market and the risks offset projects face.
