  • Role Summary:
    • Support project objectives and deliverables within the Circular Development Team.
    • Assist in the implementation and growth of the Malmö Commitment.
    • Facilitate the onboarding of new members and expand the project's online presence.
    • Design and implement webinars and peer exchanges focused on equitable and people-centered development.
  • Role Requirements:
    • Current enrollment in a relevant vocational or university program.
    • Strong command of English, with preference for additional Spanish language skills.
    • Excellent writing and organizational abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience in website development (WordPress preferred).
    • A positive and adaptable work ethic.

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of more than 2,500 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development. We are active in 125 countries, influencing sustainability policy and driving local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development. Our Members and team of experts work together through peer exchange, partnerships and capacity building to create systemic change for urban sustainability.

The Role: As an intern, you will support the Circular Development Team in delivering on project objectives and deliverables. You will assist with the implementation and further development of the Malmö Commitment on Inclusive and Equitable Communities, support the onboarding of new local and regional governments to the Malmö Commitment, and support the step by step expansion of the project website. You will also support the design and implementation of webinars and peer exchanges for affiliated cities, towns and regions on relevant topics in the field of equitable and people-centered development.

Job Requirements: You must be enrolled in a vocational training or university in a relevant subject, such as urban planning, environmental science, public policy, or similar that is related to equity and social inclusion. You must have excellent communication skills and command of English. Spanish language skills are a strong asset. Further language skills are welcome. You must have coherent and concise writing skills, strong organizational skills, and be a confident user of Microsoft Office. Previous website development and content management experience (e.g. WordPress) is a strong asset. You must have a positive, flexible, and proactive work attitude.

Benefits: ICLEI is offering a monthly compensation of EUR 1,000 gross (brutto) for the full-time internship. The position is available for six months, with a possible start date in October 2024. You will be supervised by ICLEI’s Transition Concepts Officer and will work 40 hours per week, with 2 days of leave per full month. The working language is English.
