What will you be doing?

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that Arthros achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that Arthros has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. They support Arthros to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.  Arthros is a very small charity with no paid staff, apart from two freelance consultants who have been undertaking research into the current needs of people  living with arthritis in Reading. We know those needs are changing.  We also know that most people who need us don't know about us.  We don't have a website, on-line processes or social media  present. This is a new role for a Digital Trustee to provide  leadership on the role of digital in Arthros’s marketing, communications and service delivery. There is much to do, as Arthros becomes fit for the future.  There is funding set aside to develop a website, but we need someone with the skills, knowledge and experience to oversee this. Main responsibilities ●      Take a proactive lead in developing our online presence, supporting the website development and creation of a social media presence. ●      Highlight the opportunities and the risks of digital. ●      Translate the risks and opportunities of digital for other trustees, to enable the board as a whole to engage in an informed way. ●      Take the lead in evaluating proposals for development of the website and social media for the board. ●      Champion the use of data in board discussions, and in driving the delivery and improvement of operations. ●      Draw on your networks to support our work. ●      Ensure compliance with GDPR.

What are we looking for?

What we are looking for   This is a time of transition for Arthros.  The founding members are all ready to step down.  We have employed 2 consultants who have been talking and listening to people about the potential future role for Arthros.  As new trustees are appointed, there will be a handover period during which time we will work together to agree the future direction of Arthros.  We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.  Personal Skills and Experience ●      Successful track record in digital marketing. ●      Up to date knowledge of legislation including GDPR. ●      Demonstrable and practical experience of delivering transformational change ●      Experience of cloud platforms and digital services. ●      Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to take collective responsibility for the governance of our charity. ●      Ability to work at a strategic level whilst understanding the detail and complexities of delivery. ●      Strong communicator – willing and able to help the board understand digital. ●      Ability to analyse risks and opportunities, and take a balanced approach to both. ●      Extensive networks, and a willingness to draw on contacts as appropriate. ●      A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. ●      Commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.   Desirable ●      Experience and understanding of the impact of arthritis on wellbeing ●      Knowledge of Reading

What difference will you make?

This is an opportunity to create huge change in the way that  Arthros promotes itself.  Our current beneficiaries are small in number, but our work has great impact.   People have told us that they have never heard of Arthros.  We need you to help change this, so that more people are able to benefit from our support.  You will help Arthros develop our marketing and communication processes, based on what our consultants have heard from people, so we can help more people live well with arthritis, reducing loneliness and isolation and helping them live their best lives. “Arthros have made an immense impact on my life. Arthros have given me that confidence that I can do anything” – grant beneficiary.
