Our Vision

At Patch, the future is local. We’re building a nationwide network of neighbourhood workspaces designed to become new local hubs for work, culture, and community. We craft beautifully designed spaces on high streets and in town centres to support people working near home, achieving a better work-life balance, and building thriving careers and businesses within their communities. Patch also serves as a venue for cultural and community gatherings. We build relationships with our members, local groups, and cultural organisations to support and host a programme of publicly accessible workshops, talks, and events.

In January 2025, we will open in York, making our home in the iconic Bonding Warehouse, overlooking the River Ouse and next to Skeldergate Bridge. Our vision is to create a new hub for York’s entrepreneurs, creatives, and community builders. Inside Patch, you’ll find a variety of meeting and event spaces (including a podcast studio and Patch Academy - a flexible events studio), along with a suite of workspaces ranging from coworking studios to private offices.

Patch is proud to be an accredited B-Corp, representing our ongoing commitment to demonstrating that businesses can drive positive social and environmental change and be a force for good in our communities.

Your Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary Site Director for our York location who embodies an entrepreneurial spirit and commercial acumen, with the potential to evolve into an Operations Lead overseeing multiple sites in the North. This role is critical in integrating Patch into the York community, driving growth, and setting a precedent for future expansions.

You will lead the York site, collaborating closely with the Head of Operations and the Central Support Team, to develop an exceptional venue that meets and exceeds our standards for community integration, operational excellence, and cultural significance. Your leadership will help propel Patch's vision forward, making our York site a dynamic centre for work, creativity, and connection.

You will then have the opportunity to spearhead the evolution of Patch in the North, supporting us to open new locations, supporting more communities and propelling the 'Work Near Home' era forward.

  • Operational Management: Manage daily operations, ensuring the success and financial health of the site. Oversee member experience, budgeting, and financial accountability, with an eye toward replicating these successes at new sites.
  • Cultural Programming and Advocacy: Cultivate a vibrant local cultural scene by developing events and partnerships that position Patch as a creative hub. Actively involve in content creation and community outreach, promoting Patch’s initiatives and building a strong regional network.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead a high-performing team, instilling a culture of excellence and innovation. Regularly evaluate site standards and team dynamics to ensure alignment with Patch's values and operational goals.

About You

  • Exceptional Communicator: Excels at building strong relationships across diverse groups.
  • Strategic Multitasker: Manages complex priorities in dynamic, multi-site environments effectively.
  • Community Champion: Committed to embedding Patch in local cultures and driving community growth.

  • Advanced Commercial Acumen: Skilled in financial management and keen on driving successful negotiations.
  • Systematic Organizer: Streamlines processes for efficiency and scalability.
  • Empathetic and Motivational: Fosters a collaborative and resilient team environment.
  • Regional Advocate: Promotes and integrates the unique culture and potential of each northern location.
  • Creative Thinker: Uses first principles to innovate and refine strategic initiatives.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years in leadership roles within hospitality, retail, or membership-driven environments, preferably with multi-site management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning and community engagement.
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on empathetic, team-oriented management.
