Role Summary

  • Assist the R&D Division in analyzing diverse agricultural trial data.
  • Manage independent research projects leveraging big data, including historical trial data and open-source datasets.
  • Lead the Data sub-team within the Agricultural Innovations department.

Role Requirements

  • A Master's degree in data science, statistics, or a related field or equivalent experience showcased e.g., via Github.
  • Proven ability to utilize data science techniques to address complex issues.
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python, with a preference for skills in spatial analysis.
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda is essential.

Our 8,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across six core countries in Africa, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers’ homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. On average, the farmers we serve harvest 50 percent more food after working with One Acre Fund.

About the Role You will support colleagues in the R&D Division in the analysis of trial data and also manage standalone ("optimised agronomy") research projects utilising big data (longitudinal datasets and meta-analyses) from several sources including historical/legacy trial data and open source data. You will report to the Agricultural Innovations department lead and will lead the Data sub-team.

Job requirements Master's degree in data science, statistics or related field, or demonstrated experience e.g., on Github. Demonstrated experience in applying apply data science techniques to solve problems. Proficient in R and/or Python, and preferably in spatial analysis. Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda.
