What will you be doing?
We are a small heritage trust with a big responsibility, looking to develop the site into a key tourist destination, building on years of work by trustees, staff and volunteers. Leading the Trust through such change provides the opportunity for someone who can demonstrate key skills of leadership, organisation and communication. An understanding of communicating with internal and external stakeholders and partners is key to this role as we continue to develop our working relationship with The National Forest and North West Leicestershire District Council. We are always looking to explore new opportunities to inform, educate and excite different audiences and maintain the financial stability of the trust. Our challenge is to balance the preservation and care of a key industrial heritage site including a scheduled building, woodland, parkland and a stretch of the Ashby Canal whilst strengthening our visitor offer to increased audiences with different expectations.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with experience of work within the voluntary sector and have an interest in heritage. Skills include ability to communicate with different groups, organisation of information, forward thinking, strategic development.
What difference will you make?
As chair of the board your role will be vital in providing leadership on the strategic direction of the Trust, ensuring we continue to meet our aims, deliver activities and support that continue to enrich our offer to both the local and wider communities sustainably.
