What will you be doing?
As a Director, your commitment to Minds Ahead will include participating in Board meetings (usually four a year). However, it is envisaged that between the meetings, the Directors will provide additional advice and guidance as needed on specific issues that arise. The business plans are to maintain and build on recent growth in the coming year as we introduce new courses and ensure the success of existing workstreams. Therefore, the social enterprise requires improvements to its governance structures and key operational processes, which the board will play a key part in securing. Key to this, we are recruiting a volunteer non-executive Director: HR
HR Development – we are seeking an experienced HR professional, with a passion for securing a high-performing team, as well as competence in HR processes, who will serve as a volunteer non-executive Director.
The HR Director will play a key role in supporting the social enterprise to achieve high performance by guiding strategic decision-making, advising where processes and procedures need improving and ensuring that the organisational policies are compliant with legal requirements.
The CEO and Founder, Dean Johnstone, will serve as Chair of this board.

What difference will you make?
Play a key role in helping to provide strategic oversight of a small and growing social enterprise. Work with fellow Directors and the Management Team to shape the strategic plan for the organisation and to provide strategic direction and support the development of policies and plans Bring your experience and professionalism (HR or BD) to inform our strategy, decisions, policies, practices and adherence to legal requirements Use your own networks to raise the profile and commit to increasing networks and income to Minds Ahead Represent the organisation at events and meetings when required Ensure good Governance and accountability across the board by acting in the social enterprise’s best interests Ensure the social enterprise’s resources are managed responsibly by acting with reasonable care and skill Participate in board induction training and receive any additional training identified as either an individual or part of the board
This is an unpaid, voluntary, appointment which brings rewards other than money. All expenses directly incurred in your role as Director of official business are covered by the social enterprise.
