THE ROLE

Climate Impact Partners, a leading provider of high-quality carbon credit programmes, is looking for an Outreach and Land Identification Officer to join our Carbon Project Delivery team. This is a secondment position supporting our project partner based in Madhya Pradesh, India to deliver a large-scale community-based afforestation project. The project aims to plant approximately 12 million trees on community and private farmer land and is in it’s 2nd year of plantation. The role will be responsible for supporting our project partner with land identification and data reporting to enable the timely delivery of the project’s objectives resulting in the issuance of high-quality carbon credits.

Climate Impact Partners makes and manages long term investments in development projects in return for verified emissions reductions (VERs). We work closely with project implementation partners who implement project activities on the ground, bringing our expertise and oversight to ensure that projects are designed, setup, and managed to deliver the expected volume of high-integrity VERs and other impacts. The projects are predominantly nature-based solutions projects in emerging markets. Our project partners range from local NGOs to private companies.

The role is based in Madhya Pradesh State, India, as Outreach & Land Identification Officer, you will be reporting to the Climate Impact Partners India Project Manager.

The role will involve training project partners on Climate Impact Partners' stakeholder engagement and FPIC processes whilst working alongside our project partner to deliver successful stakeholder engagement initiatives, this will require frequent travel throughout our project boundary to project sites and communities. The role will also be responsible for working with the project partner to secure agreements with landowners to plant and manage trees on their land as per Climate Impact Partners guidance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Outreach & Stakeholder Engagement


  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage local communities in this large scale community based afforestation activities.
  • Organize and conduct community meetings, workshops, and outreach programs to raise awareness about the various benefits of afforestation project including the carbon benefits.
  • Train project partners to deliver stakeholder meetings and FPIC engagement as per Climate Impact Partners requirements.
  • Develop working relationships with local (Gram Sabha) and regional government agencies for recruitment of community land parcels for afforestation activities.
  • Develop strong relationships with NGO, project partners, local community organizations, community leaders and members and individual farmers.
  • Engage with local communities to ensure their participation and support for afforestation activities throughout the project life-cycle.
  • Manage the delivery and reporting of relevant project KPIs to the Carbon Project Delivery Team
  • Report any delivery risks or grievances to the Carbon Project Delivery Team

Land Identification and Recruitment


  • Manage stakeholder engagement as per Climate Impact Partners guidance to ensure eligible land targets (private and community lands) are met on time to allow for planned tree planting activities to take place.
  • Identify and secure suitable land for afforestation projects in collaboration with private landowners (farmers) and local authorities (community lands), in coordination with the implementation partner.
  • Ensure compliance with land use regulations and environmental standards.
  • Ensure all the relevant land documents are reviewed and recorded for future purposes.
  • Monitor and manage land resources to support sustainable afforestation practices.

Outreach Coordination:


  • Work with Climate Impact Partners team to develop and implement effective community outreach and engagement plans, this would include stakeholder meetings, consultation, events, programs, plantation drive, etc. that can lead to increased farmers’ participation in the project and recruitment of land parcels for afforestation activities.
  • Plan and execute outreach campaigns to promote the project.
  • Develop and distribute educational materials, including brochures, newsletters, and social media content.
  • Develop effective communication materials for conveying the importance of the afforestation carbon project and the related benefits to the community members and individual farmers
  • Facilitate partnerships and collaborations to enhance project impact and sustainability.
  • Represent the project at local forums/meetings.

Reporting and Documentation:


  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities (through Kobo forms and field registers), land agreements, and community engagements.
  • Maintain digital copies of all the relevant documents (Khasra doc, Carbon Waivers, GP resolution, etc.)
  • Prepare regular reports on community engagement activities against planned targets to Climate Impact Partners and project partner.
  • Document success stories and lessons learned to be shared with CIP and project partner.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: 


  • Master’s preferred degree in Sustainable Development, Environmental Science or a related field.

Experience:


  • At least 5 years of experience in project coordination, liaising, outreach and community engagement, stakeholder engagement, good understanding of the local communities, experience of working with farmers and local government bodies.

Required Skills:


  • Strong experience in community outreach, engagement, and project coordination.
  • Knowledge of land use regulations and environmental standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong writing skills in both Hindi and English languages.
  • Proficiency in project management and coordination.
  • Experience in overseeing community-based projects to completion.
  • High ability to motivate and promote community engagement in projects activities.
  • Strong proficiency in data management and analysis and high attention to details.
  • Experience in managing a team.
  • High IT literacy, including good skills at MS Office suite like Word, Excel and PowerPoint
