About Tandem

We’re Tandem. The UK’s fairer, greener, digital bank providing hard working people across the UK with greener ways to spend, borrow and save.

With more than 500 people in London, Blackpool, Cardiff, Durham and Manchester, all working together to create a fairer, greener, more accessible bank for people across the UK.

We’re on a mission to proactively help our customers to reduce their carbon footprint and accelerate the UK to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and we need more people to help us achieve this goal.

We've taken the beliefs, behaviours, and personality and created four underpinning values. These values demonstrate our guiding principles and behaviours for everyone at Tandem. Our ambition is that these values are ingrained and always front of mind when we're engaging with our stakeholder audiences.  Our values are BRAVE, ENTERPRISING, SIMPLE and TOGETHER.

Tandem App

The main purpose of the role is to support several projects in our pipeline, and your skills will be desired to push them further. You’ll have a chance to put your hands and eye into the spin on the multiple products in our portfolio.

Reporting to the Head of Design, you will be responsible for designing the best possible user experience on mobile. We’ve got foundations in place, but there is plenty of space for research, analyse and design of the fantastic fin-tech experience.

You will help us improve the experience of the existing product by running user research, iterating and testing. You will work with our design system, but at the same time, we want you to own the design and drive the change by running the UX process.

If you like asking questions, breaking the status quo, prototyping your concepts, designing pixel-perfect screens and building products that matter, we’d love to hear from you. Your voice, ideas and drive will always find a home at Tandem.

Our Team

You will join the small but mighty and ever-growing remote team of designers. We come from various environments and bring mixed experiences to the table. Everyone is valuable, and everyone has something unique to say.

We work remotely but collaborate digitally and meet as often as possible for socials in London, Cardiff or Blackpool. We like fun, good content, Figma setup discussions, and retro games.

What we're looking for:
Essential

  • You have documented 3+ years of experience with mobile app design
  • You can design and run a research and usability testing (moderated and unmoderated)

  • You have experience in helping build mobile and/or web applications
  • You can thrive in a high pace environment, cross-functional squads, and agile methodology
  • You understand end to end iterative UX process and know how to implement it
  • You have an eye for detail and can create beautiful UI that complements excellent UX
  • You are a team player, a great communicator, and (I hate that word) passionate about what you do

  • Everybody knows Figma nowadays, so proficiency in it is an entry point. If you are mastering other design apps you just got extra points
  • Understanding UK financial market - we are the bank, and we provide financial products, so knowledge about finance is important
