We are committed to protecting the places we love to wander and fostering a community where walking is accessible to all. Our values of being Inclusive, Inspiring, Empowering, and Responsible guide our daily operations and interactions.

The role: As a Community Project Officer, you will be instrumental in delivering the Walking Together Project across communities in North London, Slough, and Reading. This position focuses on engaging with disadvantaged communities to combat loneliness, social isolation, and inactivity through the 'Getting Started' Wellbeing Walks programme. Your responsibilities will include setting up community walking programmes, maintaining relationships with local and regional partners, and managing project expenditures. Additionally, you will support the training of community members to lead walks, ensuring the sustainability of the initiative.

Job requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse groups and communities, managing projects, and recruiting volunteers. Excellent communication, IT, and social media skills are essential. Knowledge of or interest in walking, physical activity, and public health is beneficial. A Lowland Leader qualification, or working towards one, is desirable but not mandatory.

Benefits: The Ramblers offer a competitive salary, flexible hybrid working conditions, a pension contribution, and a range of other perks including free membership, a season ticket loan, and a cycle scheme. You will also enjoy 30 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with additional office closure during Christmas.

This is a contract position initially for 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to three years, subject to funding. We encourage applications from all sections of the community, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
