Role Summary

  • Work under the guidance of the Head of Photography and Imaging and Senior Photographers.

Role Requirements

  • Professional photographic practice experience.
  • Formal professional qualification in photography, degree, or equivalent.

The British Museum is undergoing an extraordinary transformation, both intellectually and physically, making it a significant time to join our team. As a Photographer within the Photography and Imaging team, you will work under the guidance of the Head of Photography and Imaging and Senior Photographers. Your main responsibilities will include producing high-quality photographs of objects in the collection to meet client briefs and completing general photographic requests to support the Museum. This role is particularly aimed at introducing a junior photographer to the photographic and imaging demands of a major cultural institution, while also providing a developmental environment in the field of heritage imaging.

About you: You should have experience in professional photographic practice, preferably within a similar organisation. A formal professional qualification in photography, degree or equivalent is required. You must be proficient in the use of professional camera systems and Adobe Photoshop along with other professional imaging software. It is essential to work effectively as part of a team and have a flexible approach with excellent communication skills.
